Description:
A great offering from a private collection of a discriminating long time AH Fox collector. A charming & wonderful XE 12ga gun with the majority of it's original factory case color, lovely factory blue and gorgeous special wood for an XE grade gun. Factory Kautzky single selective trigger.

30" barrels with twin ivory beads. These barrels retain nearly all of their factory blue finish with minor handling marks and wear at attachment points. Nice original filing dress markings on barrel flats. Sharp & crisp barrel markings top & bottom, breech wedge engraving sharp. Barrels ring true. Shiny bores. No dents or dings. Proper scallop at muzzle on top rib. Left barrel ejector guide pin has separated from ejector blade but pin is it its barrel hole...easy repair if one saw fit.
2 5/8" chambers with my Galazan slide in chamber gauge. Right rear of rib extension shows a very tiny bump.

Receiver is beautifully engraved in XE style and retains a majority of its original factory color case hardening, most prevalent on rear sides, top & rear of bottom. Front sides & bottom lack color as typical from handling... nicely greyed. Traces of color on trigger bow. Wonderful clean screws. Strong case color on top lever.

The wood on this gun is stunning...dark honey color & tobacco smoke figure dominate. The order card on this gun is marked "SPEC" and it may refer to the grade of the wood. This grain & figure is much nicer than the majority of XE grade Foxes that I have encountered. Wood is unsanded and uncracked with sharp checkering with some wear. Forend shows dings & small dents from use. Ebony wedge at forend tip has small mar at forward nose. Buttstock fits perfectly and has a number of handling marks commensurate with light use. Grip cap & solid red Silvers style recoil pad with perfect fit. Wood finish exhibits years of hand rubbed patina.
This gun has FANTASTIC shooting dimensions at
14" LOP over pad, 1 1/2" DAC & 2 1/2" DAC.
Balance point about 1" ahead of hinge with the 30" barrels.....great feel & swing. 7# 6oz.

This Fox is tight as a vault as it should be, operates crisply including Kautzky trigger selection. Automatic safety. Lever right of center.

This gun is priced below most which are not even comparable and is the nicest XE grade Fox I have seen offered for sale in a long time.
