This is a fantastic example of a very special Winchester Model 1873 rifle in the desirable .44 WCF, factory engraved and shipped to the Atlanta Police in 1890. This is the highest condition complete example we have ever encountered...even with factory 4 piece cleaning rod in buttstock! This gun will come with "Winchester letter" from Cody, WY verifying all features.

According to our research this rifle is from a group of 125 1873s that were shipped to the Atlanta Police from Winchester in 1889-1890 in two groups. This is # "66" and so engraved. It is believed that these are the only 1873 Winchesters factory engraved to a police agency.

This is a totally unmolested gun with the vast majority of original Winchester factory finish remaining...both metal and wood. Even the screws are near perfect with only one showing evidence of later turning.

The factory blue on all four sides of the receiver is mostly present and still bright. Carry wear to the very front of the receiver & dustcover. Dustcover tight & still snaps into place. Minor scratching is evident as would be expected from a rifle of this age. Receiver blue strong and bright with some minor plum in spots. Barrel blue is bright with wear limited to sharp edges. Magazine tube is very blue & barely turning to "plum". Magazine tube tight to barrel & undented. Forend cap retains bright blue with balance turning to plum. Factory sling swivels tight and nice. Proper front and rear sights.

The wood on this rifle is completely untouched showing much of the factory finish with some darkening from use and oil. Unsanded & uncracked. Left side of forend shows moderate use dents, buttstock shows some handling marks.

This gun operates crisply as it should it all respects. No slop. Beautiful bright shiny bore..it has been taken care of. Brass carrier is tight..polished lightly. Original 4 piece Winchester cleaning rod is still housed in buttstock!!

We have seen lesser condition examples sell very recently online for a higher price. This gun is priced for immediate sale and is worthy of the best collection.
