This is an opportunity to purchase a very rare A.H. Fox SP Grade Skeet Grade in the harder to find 16 gauge...and a two barrel set!!!

The SP grade is one of the hardest AH Fox guns to find. It was a grade introduced in 1932 with streamlined blued frame much like the Winchester M21. The SP Skeet grade was intro'd in 1934 and only had a about a 6 year run. The Skeet (and Skeet & Upland grade) was treated to the generous frame & barrel wedge engraving.

According to my research there were only approximately 4 dozen 16ga SP(E) Skeet guns produced total...probably less than half survive in any type of condition...and this is a two barrel set!

This particular gun was shipped in June of 1935 with the 26" barrels. The longer 28 inch set with matching forend were added at a subsequent time at the factory. Interestingly, both barrels have the same chokes. Twin ivory beads on both sets.Obviously the original owner liked the chokes but wanted a little extra length and the 28" set show a little more wear obviously being on the gun more often. Extractors, double triggers.

This gun has very handsome thin shell walnut stock and forends, nicely grained and colored. The checkered straight grip butt is original to the gun and is specific to the Skeet grade gun. MOST of these guns have been altered to a hard buttplate or recoil pad making this example a rare survivor with the gorgeous checked butt. The wood finish shows minor handling marks with very nice light minor crazing when caught in the light just right.

The finishes on this gun are original with the frame having most of it's deep blue showing some thinning on the belly. The 28" barrels show some wear and thinning of blue, the 26" set are nearly new with some light handling marks. Long tang trigger guard has lost most of its blued finish.

Both barrel sets have 13 thou & 14 thou chokes (L mod) in each barrel.

This AH Fox is a pleasure to handle and is a natural in the field or on the range. This is truly one of the rarest AH Fox guns and will continue to appreciate AND can be used and enjoyed. It is being offered at a price to sell!!
