This is a very special delightful special order Savage Model 1899 rifle. According to the Savage records; #10973 Round barrel, shotgun butt, accepted 6/21/1899, shipped 6/22/1899, Chauncey P. Williams.

This is one fine Savage special order checkered rifle. 26" round barrel .303 Savage caliber.

Savage tang peep sight. Lyman folding 2 leaf rear sight.

There are two holes drilled in the top of the barrel exactly 2 3/4" apart...obviously for a specific optic mount of the day. It is my feeling these may factory holes based on the overall configuration of the rifle.

There are thirteen charming "notches" on the sides of this rifle's forend...obviously this rifle was able to do what Mr. Chauncey Williams ordered it to do. These are "folk art" very nicely executed.

Excellent bright bore, strong lands & grooves. Mechanically tight & fine.

This is a splendid first year gun with a majority of it's original factory finishes remaining.

I personally have never seen an earlier Model 1899...let alone a Deluxe model.
