Browning Superposed 20ga Gr 1 with original box & Browning Case

Item#: Browning O/U boxed

Description:
This is a one owner fantastic early Browning 20ga Grade 1 circa 1955. (the 20ga Superposed was into'd in 1949) Originally shipped to W.A. Harvey Sporting Goods, Syracuse, NY.

This gun is not new but has been used very gently and remains in hiigh condition and has recently come to us from an estate of a gentleman who had only custom and high condition guns. This Browning is complete with its original box which has survived in very good condition as well. (few slight tears but very sound) I personally have not had another Superposed with a box this early. As you will see in the photos the lable of the box is marked with a big "S" in the center. It is our believe that "S" signifies "special order".

26 1/2" Ventilated Rib. Over barrel Modified, Under barrel Improved Cylinder. This gun weighs only 6 pounds 3 oz !

I would rate the blue on this gun 98++%. The only blue wear on the barrels are the thin lines caused by the forend sliding forward for take down. This wear is slight. The blue on the receiver and trigger guard is bright. In certain light the blue may be a touch thin on the bottom sides of the receiver by the hingepin but only slightly...egdes still remain crisp and sharp. The screws in the forend and lower tang have lost their blue and have gone to a nice patina. There are two very minor "bumps" on the left side of the barrel extension which meets the standing breech. These are very small and could probably be "massaged" down to be hardly noticeable. (they can be seen in my photos) There is blue wear along the sides of the safety slide on the top tang.

The bores are mint and bright. No dings, dents or pits inside or out. Everything works perfectly. Chokes measure .011 and .023.

The single selective trigger is gold with some plating wear.

The wood on this gun is very slender, both grip and forend. The finish is very nice and has some crazing which is typical for Browning guns. No cracks, splits or gouges. The dimensions are 1 5/8" DAC and 2 3/8" DAH with LOP at 13 5/16" to hard Browning buttplate. I believe this gun to be special order with that LOP. The buttplate fits 100% perfectly, the wood fit shows no sign of alteration. As I mentioned, this man's guns were all custom & I believe this was a special order from Browning hence the big "S" on the endflap of the box. No doubt they took a 14 1/4" gun from inventory and shortened it per the customer order and marked the lable. The fit is too good to not be factory.

This is a wonderful example of an early 20ga Superposed that can be used and enjoyed.
