This is the "holy grail" of Standard Arms rifles in high original untouched condition!! It is estimated that only two or three dozen of the .50 CAMP guns were built nearly 100 yrs ago.

This example has come to us fresh out of the Adirondack foothills and has seen very little if any use. Standard Arms guns are usually identified by a brass forend & buttplate both heavily embossed. All that I have seen over 30 yrs have had a straight unchecked grip. This gun wears a handsome walnut forend with a checkered pistol grip with a delicate hard rubber buttplate. (my 1910 catalog shows a checkered pistol grip as a $10 option. The "CAMP" rifle is not mentioned in the catalog) Perhaps these are features of the CAMP gun. The gun also has a sling swivel in the buttstock with a special dovetail cut in the barrel retaining lug no doubt for the foreward sling swivel attachment.

This gun is in outstanding original condition both wood and metal. Mirror SMOOTHBORE which is adapted for a variant of a .50-70 shot/buckshot type cartridge. Shotgun type sights.

Standard Arms produced a high quality gun just after the turn of the last century (only several thousand estimated) in Wilmington, Delaware. Obviously history tells us that they were not able to compete successfully with the big sporting arms manufacturers.

This gun is a pleasure in both fit and finish and is a must for any collection of rare & obscure American sporting arms. I have never heard of another one offered for sale.
